It's time to unite RSO's, and work to share the real facts with the Public. For far too long people have been mislead by bitter vigilantes to believe that all sex offenders re-offend at a very high rate. This Country is going to hell with this sexual predator nonsense, and it's time we speak out. The media giants are making a bundle on this subject, and our representatives are too lazy to look into the real statistics. This is a political profit subject because no one likes sexual offenders. I don't like murderers either, but I don't want to jeapordize the Constitution to persecute them. I believe children are to be cherished, and that childhood should never be stolen from anyone. But our Constitution and Rights are worth more than ANYTHING on earth. Too much blood has been shed for Freedom for us to allow the Bill of Rights to be circumvented for any reason. Those rights were enacted to protect citizens from an overzealous or corrupt Government. The time to act is now. We need change in America, but not change in our Constitution that leads to class based discrimination. No other criminal population suffers these types of consequences. We are being denied equal protection.
I think that most Americans are pretty smart, and many are starting to realize how evil this banish the "former" sex offender blitz truly is. None of us can start a new life given these laws as they are. We are persecuted and discriminated against almost daily--we can not find employment--and our homes are being taken from us. Even those of us that "rent" deserve to have a home.
I encourage all RSO's to begin speaking out, in as peaceful manner as possible, to dispel the myths about former sex offenders the media and so many politicians have propagated to the public. The people are unduly paranoid because of this movement.
It's time to fight back!
